| History: | Named for Sacajawea, a Shoshoni woman who traveled with the Lewis and Clark Expedition. A proposal to change the spelling of the name Sacajawea Peak to Sacagawea Peak was submitted in February 1998. In May 2000, the proposal was rejected by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names (USBGN). |
