History: | There is some evidence that this lake was named originally for the wife of Lieutenant Ahern, Jean Gill Ahern, but it did not last. Lieutenant Ahern conducted an extensive exploration of what is now Glacier National Park, and named numerous features. The name Elizabeth Lake was applied possibly for one of the surveyor's daughter although there is no way to know this without considerable investigation. |
